The experience
Fitness that works
with your body, not against it.
Refuel is a full-body movement experience built around a single principle: the music does the pacing.
Classical and crossover music — from Bach and Debussy to Michael Meets Mozart and Beethoven’s 5 Secrets — keeps your heart rate in the zone where your body builds real, lasting fitness. Not the zone that leaves you exhausted. The one that makes you stronger, clearer, and calmer, week after week.
You leave worked and open, clear-headed and quietly energised. Not wrecked.
Functional Movement
Controlled compound movements. The classical music keeps heart rate in a steady, efficient band — no accidental spikes, no wasted energy. Every rep counts because every rep is quality.
Cardio Kickboxing
Real intensity — with a natural ceiling. The crossover music keeps effort high without pushing heart rate into the zones that slow recovery. Sustained power, not brief spikes.
Deep Stretch
The part most classes skip. Slow classical music activates your parasympathetic nervous system, releasing muscle tension and completing the physiological cycle. You leave feeling genuinely open.
The science
The music isn’t the background.
It’s the training tool.
Research shows classical music reduces perceived exertion by up to 12%. During explosive movement and cardio, it keeps heart rate in a steadier, more efficient band — even when the effort is high. Your body responds to the structure of the music whether you recognise the piece or not.
The aerobic base zone — 60–70% of maximum heart rate — where fat becomes fuel and cardiovascular efficiency compounds over months, not just sessions.
More time spent in the aerobic base zone during classical/crossover workouts compared to non-classical music workouts. Real data, real sessions.
Lower average heart rate in the 15 minutes after a Refuel session compared to non-classical workout recovery — a direct marker of improving fitness.
“Elite endurance athletes spend 80% of training time in Zone 2 — not because it’s easy, but because it’s where the engine gets built. Refuel is designed to keep you there. The music does the work between your effort and your recovery.”

About Jo
The founder of Refuel
Refuel was created from a simple belief: that the right music changes not just how you feel during a workout, but what your body actually does with the effort.
Jo founded Refuel to bring together two things she cared deeply about — classical and crossover music, and the science of how the body responds to sustained, intentional movement. The result is a fitness experience that is unlike anything else: one hour that works your cardiovascular system, strengthens your body, and genuinely quietens your mind.
Based in Berlin, Refuel runs in-person sessions in parks and studios across the city, online sessions for clients worldwide, and bespoke corporate workshops for organisations looking for something genuinely different for their teams.
